PURPOSE:To obtain an optical coupler which can be operated stably against a disturbance such as a vibration, a temperature variation, etc. by constituting the optical coupler by using an optical fiber as a basis. CONSTITUTION:Two cores 11, 12 are made to exist in parallel at an interval for causing an optical coupling, in a clad 18 of an optical fiber. Also, air layers 13, 14 are provided on both sides of the first core 11 in the axial direction orthogonal to an axis for connecting these cores 11, 12, and stress giving parts 15, 16 and 20 are provided on an axis for connecting two cores 11, 12 or on both sides of the second core 12 in the axial direction orthogonal to the axis for connecting the two cores 11, 12. Also, the second core 12 has an elliptical section shape by which the axial direction for connecting the two cores 11, 12 becomes a long radius or a short radius. |
