PURPOSE:To provide carbon fluoride having good discharge performance by applying fluorination treatment to carbon material at a specified temperature or less, then fluorinating it at high temperature. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fluoride obtained by applying fluorination treatment to carbon material at 50 deg.C or less, then fluorinatining it at 200 deg.C or more is used as active material for battery. In a fluorination treatment at 50 deg.C or less, the weight of carbon is increased by several to ten-odd percent. Treatment at 50 deg.C or less does not produce carbon fluoride, but carbon combines with fluorine to form some compound. This promotes formation of uniform carbon-fluorine combination when carbon fluoride is produced at high temperature. By this prcess, high discharge voltage and flat voltage performance are obtained. |
