The antenna 20 is of the half-loop type, that is to say comprising a radiating element in the form of a monopole folded in one plane and end-loaded by a capacitive element 24. According to the invention, this antenna is arranged above the level of the bodywork of a land vehicle 11, at least some lateral bodywork elements of which are made from a conductive material; it is supported by a superstructure element 30 of the vehicle - for example an aerodynamic deflector 32 - which is substantially flat and arranged above the level of the bodywork of the vehicle. The monopole is folded in the plane of this superstructure element and the extremity close to the supply point 27 as well as the capacitive element 24 are both arranged low down in the superstructure element and are electrically connected 31 to the metal elements, forming an electromagnetic balance, of the bodywork of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
