The jack-rod locking device comprises, fixed to the jack rod 2, but allowing the latter to slide, a body 1 internally provided, in a bore 3 produced for this purpose, with a chamber 4 for the inlet of a fluid under pressure, with a piston 5, with elastic means 6 acting against the pressure exerted by the fluid and, interposed between the piston 5 and the elastic means 6, with jamming means 7, 8, which can transmit a substantially transverse force to the rod 2 in order to immobilise it. In a first variant, the locking of the jack rod 2 is obtained when the fluid pressure is eliminated, while in a second variant the locking of the jack rod 2 is obtained when the fluid pressure is accepted. <IMAGE>
