Sodium carbonate may be included in the batch provided at least 50% of the Na 2 O required for the glass is' supplied by the aqueous NaOH. The NaOH solutions used preferably contain 30-75% by weight of sodium hydroxide. The sources of SiO 2 and CaO are preferably sand and limestone respectively. |
