1,237,036. Cured alkyd resins. FUJI PHOTO FILM CO. Ltd. 20 Aug., 1969 [20 Aug., 1968], No. 41594/69. Heading C3R. [Also in Division H1] An alkyd resin is cured by a polyisocyanate comprising a condensation product of trimethylol propane and tolylene di-isocyanate. The alkyd resin contains 10 to 50 wt. per cent of. an aromatic dibasic carboxylic acid, and has a hydroxyl value of 10 to 100 whilst the polyisocyanate is used in proportion 1À2 to 8 times the equivalent corresponding to the hydroxyl value of the alkyd resin. The alkyd resins exemplified are styrene alkyd resin containing phthalic anhydride, soybean oil modified short oil type alkyd resin, medium oil length linseed oil modified alkyd resin and phenol resin modified short oil type alkyd resin. The polyisocyanate is added to the resin immediately before coating on aluminized paper or plastics and the coating cured at 40‹ C. for 16 hours. Other di- and tri-isocyanates are mentioned.
