PURPOSE:To enable a gap between a platen and a printing head to be easily adjusted, by a construction wherein an adjusting plate placed on a support rail and fitted with a pulley is provided on a carriage frame in a slidable and click-stoppable condition so that the height thereof relative to the frame can be changed by slant guide grooves. CONSTITUTION:Under the condition where the tip of a fixed member 29 is fitted in a central engaging groove 21, when the adjusting plate 20 is moved rightward by gripping a knob 22, the tip of the member 29 is disengaged from the groove 21, and is then fitted into a left end engaging groove 21. At this time, the plate 20 is moved upward relatively to the frame 19 while being guided by the slant grooves 27.27. Accordingly, a carriage 11 is turned clockwise with a front shaft 12 as a center, whereby the printing gap between the platen 10 and the printing head 13 can be enlarged, and it is possible to cope with printing on a thick printing medium. On the other hand, when printing on a thin printing medium, the plate 20 is moved leftward. |
