Snap action electrical switch

The snap action electrical switch has a moving contact mounted on an arm which is pulled against an actuator bar by a tension spring anchored against a fixed projection on the housing. The end of the actuator bar has a V-shaped groove in which the contact arm locates. When the plunger is operated the actuator arm pivots around the opposite end and the contact arm first moves to wipe against the fixed contact. Once the contact arm has pivoted, to a point where the line of action of the spring has changed sufficiently, the contact changes over with a snap action effect.
