PURPOSE:To reduce control error due to aging or other cause in an apparatus for controlling the opening of a throttle valve electrically according to the quantity of operation of an accelerator pedal, by correcting the opening and closing quantity of the throttle valve on the basis of the result of a test performed at the time of no-load operation of an engine by opening the throttle valve slightly. CONSTITUTION:A step motor 4 for driving a throttle valve 3 disposed in an intake passage 2 of an engine 1 is controlled by a control unit 20 to which output signals of an accelerator sensor 5, an engine-speed sensor 10, etc. are furnished. When it is detected from the position of a transmission, the condition of a side brake, the opening of the throttle valve, etc. that the engine is in its no- load opeation, the control unit 20 executes a test pattern and detects deviation between the engine speed at a certain time point, corrected by the temperature of intake air, the atmospheric pressure, etc., and a pre-stored reference speed. Thus, the control error due to aging or other cause is reduced by correcting a correction factor for the opening of a throttle valve according to the magnitude of the above deviation between the two engine speeds. |
