<p>PURPOSE:To recover advantageously the used copper catalyst by adding metallic iron to a residual liquid generated from the extraction of monohalo-acetoacetamide from the reaction liquid with an organic solvent in converting dihalo- acetoacetamide into monohalo-acetoacetamide. CONSTITUTION:When the catalyst used in the conversion of dihalo-acetoacetamide shown by the formula (X is a halogen, and R is H or an alkyl group having 1-4C) into monohalo-acetoacetamide in an acidic aq. solvent is recovered, the monohalo-acetoacetamide is firstly extracted from the reaction liquid with an organic solvent (e.g. lower halogenated hydrocarbons). The metallic iron is added to the residual liquid in (1.0-2.0):1.0 molar ratio of the iron to the copper in the liquid to be treated. The copper can be recovered in good yield in this way, and the recovered copper can be repeatedly used as the catalyst.</p> |
