In a device for Charrière number determination of endoscopes, the loop which is known for these purposes and is to be laid against the circumference of the endoscope is arranged with its ends on holders of a clamping device by means of which the loop can be conveniently and precisely operated. The clamping device can be provided in a form resembling callipers, possibly together with a measuring device and tension spring, or be constructed in a simple design as a spring clip. In this case, it is advantageous to provide a measurement scale on the loop, which is constructed as a strip.
