Bed-table tops for hospital bedside cabinets are arranged so as to be movable on the table by means of a holding device. To set the respective position, the holding device is provided with a pivot which is mounted in a corresponding bearing. The peripheral edges of the table top are usually provided with a plastic covering. The bed-table top according to the invention is fixed in a U-shaped holder, the pivot (2) being fixed on a torque rod (4) running parallel to the assigned front edge of the table top. The rod (4) extends approximately over the entire length of said edge and with spacing therefrom. Provided at the two ends of the torque rod (4) is in each case a profiled rail (7) which grips around the edges of the table top. The edges of the table top (1) running transversely to the torque rod (4) over a partial region considerably reduce the risk of breakage since this considerably relieves the top which is subjected to bending stress. <IMAGE>
