摘要 To determine the notched impact strength of a specimen of a metallic material at low temperature, the specimen is first placed in a container which encloses it on all sides, which is composed of materials with a lower notched impact strength, whose end faces also serve to support the specimen and which has a cavity into which a suitable coolant is introduced from outside via a hollow-needle-type inlet. The cooled specimen is then suddenly stressed by means of the pendulum of a pendulum ram impact testing machine, and in this process the container is smashed at the same time. In order to ensure a sufficiently long time for the actual measurement, the invention provides for the specimen (2) to be placed in a container (3) which is made up of two moulded parts (5, 6) composed of a hard foamed plastic material with closed pores and mechanically joined with a taping (15) at its common joints (9), the cavity (4) for the coolant (M) being sealed. <IMAGE>
