In displays in which electrons are generated in a rear chamber (5) and are drawn forward by selectively opened elements in a control matrix and consecutively scan (as a result of a postdeflection) a plurality of pixels at that point, the deflection electrodes (12, 14) expediently take the following form: running along a perforated plate (4) placed in front of the control matrix are strip conductors (14) which each enclose a series of holes between them and extend into the holes (13) of said series. According to the invention, this conductor structure is produced by screen printing, in particular on a plate (4) between 0.1 mm and 1 mm thick using a screen printing paste whose viscosity is in a certain range of values for every plate thickness. This technique ensures a specified ratio in the critical conductor dimensions; in particular, the critical insulating gap can be adhered to relatively precisely both on the printed surface and in the holes, and the penetration depth can be given a desired value at which no interfering wall charges occur. Main field of application: flat display screen with plasma cathode and electron postacceleration, in particular for data display terminals and television sets. <IMAGE>
