<p>PURPOSE:To make the period of regeneration of a trap for collecting exhaust particles, by setting the outlet pressure of the trap on the basis of the revolution speed of an engine and the load thereupon, and judging from the ratio of the set outlet pressure to the inlet pressure of the trap whether the trap needs to be regenerated or not. CONSTITUTION:When an exhaust particle collecting trap A provided in an exhaust passage has reached a prescribed state of collection, a burner B is put into operation to burn up collected particles to regenerate the trap A. A sensor C, which detects the revolution speed of an engine, a sensor D, which detects the load upon the engine, and a sensor E, which detects the inlet pressure P1 of the trap A, are provided. The outlet pressure P2 of the trap is set by a means F on the basis of the detected revolution speed and the detected load. It is judged by a regeneration time detection means G in terms of the ratio of the set outlet pressure P2 of the trap A to its inlet pressure P1 whether the trap needs to be regenerated by the burner B. The operation of the burner B is controlled depending on the result of the judgment.</p> |
