The free-standing wooden steps for a staircase without sides consists of at least two wooden parts glued together to form one piece (20). The wooden step is wider on the outside of the staircase than on the inside. One wooden section extends the entire length of the step along the tread edge (28) with the wood fibres of this part running parallel to the edge of the tread (28). The second wooden part extends the whole length of the step, and the wood grain of the back wooden section runs parallel to the back lengthwise edge. The separate grains of the two wooden sections stuck together along a joint abut in herringbone fashion in the direction of the shorter wide side of the step at an acute angle. |
