The shock absorption device increases the deformation capability of cables and cable networks, especially in the case of high shock loads, such as stone impact. This results in the associated anchoring forces being reduced and cable breaks therefore being avoided, without derating. The cable (8) is constructed in the form of a loop in the anchoring region, and the loop (14) is fixed by means of two cable shackles (9, 10) and a clamping plate (13). The compression force which is applied via the screws (11) is set by using a torque wrench so that the static friction resistance is less than the cable breaking load. Since sliding and braking movements of virtually any desired length are possible, very high energies can thus be reliably absorbed, primarily by conversion into friction heat. <IMAGE> |
