<p>The alloy is made by (a) forming a mixt. consisting essentially of iron, nickel and/or cobalt together with cerium, praesodymium, neodymium, samarium europium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium and/or ytterbium; (b) heating the mixt. to form a homogeneous molten alloy; and (c) cooling at a rate such that it solidifies in a uniform and instantaneous manner to give an alloy with an intrinsic coercive force of around 1000 Oersteds at ambient temp.</p> |
