PURPOSE:To enable to read an original at high speed ensuring minimum ratio of compression by making compression and thinning of live picture data simultaneously and accumulating thinned data as transmitting data when the quantity of compressed data exceeds a specified value. CONSTITUTION:Live picture data from a scanning section 1 are accumulated in a memory 6. At the same time, picture elements are extracted by a thinning circuit 2 and accumulated in one of memories 3, 4. Then, the data of the memory 6 are compressed by a coder 7 and written in a disk 10 through a memory 8 and a bus selector BSL. At this time, if the quantity of compressed data exceeds a specified quantity, a controlling section 9 switches the bus selector BSL to memory selector SL2 side, and writes data of thinning memory in a disk 10. When scanning of the original is completed even in the middle of this writing, a selector 1 is changed and live picture data and thinned data of next original are accumulated in the memory 6 and thinning memory 3 or 4. On the other hand, the quantity of data does not exceed the specified quantity when compressed data for an original are written in the disk 10, writing of the original is regarded as completed. |
