<p>-4,5-dihalo-1,2-dihydro-3,6-pyridazinediones of where R and R' = opt. substd. aliphatic, carbocyclic or heterocyclic groups and X and Y = halogen (F, Cl, Br or I). Analgesics, bactericides, fungicides; inhibitors of stomach acid secretion; prophylaxis and treatment of gastric and peptic ulcers. 1. By reaction of di-halo-maleic acid, anhydride or monoamide (II), with a hydrazine (III) or an acid salt or diacyl deriv. thereof in the presence of the alkali salt of a weak acid. 2. By reaction of 1-R-2-R'-4,5-dihalo-1,2-dihydro-3,6-pyridazinedione with an alkali halide to replace one or both of the 4 and 5 halo atoms by other halo atoms. 3. By reaction of 2-R'-4,5-dihalo-1,2-dihydro-3,6-pyridazinediones with an alkylating agent to give the corresponding 1-R compound. 1,2-DiMe-4,5-diCl-1,2-dihydro-3,6-pyridazinediones (Ia, X = Y = Cl, R=R'=Me).</p> |
