PURPOSE:To attain a good receiving characteristic by a processing such as a linear operation and the square-low operation of an input and a synchronizing signal wave, which are realized easily with a microprocessor, in a synchronous optimum receiver where the class ''A'' impulsive noise model of Middleton known as an impulsive noise statistical model is introduced to perform a maximum likelihood test. CONSTITUTION:The probability density function P(z) of the class ''A'' impulsive noise model of Middleton expressed with a formula I is approximated to a P'(z) with the terms up to m=M>=3 as shown by a formula II. The distribution consisted of the maximum values of (M+1)-number of the terms is considered with respect to the P'(z), and it is approximated to a P''(z) expressed with a formula III, and this simplified P''(z) is applied to the likelihood ratio testing formula. In this case, a maximum likelihood test formula IV is obtained where the processings to sample values are limited to the linear or square-law operations and a parameter obtained from the statistical properties of noise becomes a constant term in the process of operations to the sample values, and thus, an operation processing is realized easily by the microprocessor. |
