<p>The process consists of (a) treating the organic and mineral residue from hydrogenation of fats, with acidulated water at pH 4.5; (b) heating to 50-100deg. C and agitating to obtain good acid diffusion at optimum temp.; (c) cooling to cause sepn. of the acid liq.; (d) neutralising the acid liq. with alkaline soln. to above pH 6; (e) separating the solid and liquid phases; (f) acidifying the solid phase and leaving at below pH 4.5; (g) purifying the prod. mechanically; (h) concentrating the liq. from stage (f); (i) draining the prod. to separate it from its mother liquors; and (j) drying and packing the nickel salt obtd.</p> |
