<p>A mechanical drive system for fine adjustment is combined with a hydraulic/pneumatic drive for rapid emergency shut down, the hollow piston for the latter being fitted to the absorber section of the control rod. The fine setting mechanical drive is provided by one or two lead screws parallel to the piston driver by regulated motors and engaging drive nut saddles surrounding the piston and taking it with them.</p> |
