1,265,777. Driving belts. FERGUSON MACHINE CO. S.A. 14 Dec., 1970 [12 Dec., 1969], No. 59246/70. Heading F2Q. A driving belt consists of a series of flexible elements 3 with tapering ends 7 engaging between spaced finger portions 5 of the adjacent elements, the ends being secured to flat bar members 13 by longitudinally spaced pairs of bolts 15 to ensure that the end portions of elements 3 pass tangentially over a drum or pulley without bending. As shown applied to a positive drive between a pair of drums the latter carry pins 33 projecting through holes 35 in elements 3, while the heads 21 of bolts 15 enter recesses 37 in the surface of the drums. A single fastener of similar form may be used to connect the ends of a belt shaped to interengage in the manner of elements 3, Fig. 12 (not shown). In order to prevent sagging of the belt between the drums the end portions 49 of members 13 may project into channel guides, Fig. 5 (not shown), or the members may carry rollers (55, 57) engaging such guides, Figs. 8-11 (not shown). |
