PURPOSE:To make it possible to use a character pattern relatively inexpensively in an alterable manner even if the character pattern is stored in rewriting- impossible ROM, by a method wherein character pattern storing RAM is pro vided and a flag bit is provided to each character code of a character code table and the character pattern stored in character pattern storing ROM or character pattern storing RAM is selected and used according to whether the flag bit is '1' or '0'. CONSTITUTION:When a character code is same to the character code registered in character pattern storing ROM2 and a character pattern is different, this character pattern is registered and stored in character pattern storing RAM3. In perfoming this registering, a character code table 1 is used and a numeral '1' is erected on the lowermost rank bit of the character code. When a reading control part 4 reads the character pattern, the lowermost rank bit of the character code thereof is looked and, if '1', the character pattern stored in RAM3 is read and, if '0', the character pattern stored in ROM2 is read. |
