PURPOSE:To prevent a ball type water shut-off valve from abruptly opening and closing to relax the action of water hammer upon opening and closing, by providing, on the top of a mother body, a disc which may be rotated integrally with the rotary shaft of a ball type valve, and by rotating the same with use of a handle spindle through a planetary gear mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The mother body A of a water shut-off valve comprises a ball valve 1, a main body 3 storing therein the rotary shaft 2 of the ball valve 1, a plug member 4 threadedly engaged to the main body 3 to prevent the ball valve 1 from coming off and a cylindrical casing 5 secured to the cylindrical part 3a of the main body 3. In this arrangement, the front end 2b of the rotary shaft 2 is inserted in a square hole 13 in a disc 12 disposed in the cylindrical casing 5. A plurality of planetary gears 15 are disposed between the disc 12 and a support ring 12b for the disc 12 by means of planetary shafts 14, and are engaged with a ring gear 16 formed in the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical casing 5. A sun gear 20 is fitted onto the inner end of a spindle 19 supported to a cap 17, and is mashed with the planetary gears 15. |
