PURPOSE:To provide excellent preservability, prevent head contamination from occurring and provide excellent thermal color forming properties, by incorporating a pigment having an average particle size larger than that of microcapsules into a thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The thermal recording layer comprising microcapsules containing a color former and an organic solvent as core substances and a color developer is provided on a base. The walls of the microcapsules are formed of a material which is impermeable to both the color former and the color developer at room temperature, but when being heated, becomes permeable to at least one of the color former and the color developer, thereby providing a developed color image. In the thermal recording material, a pigment having an average particle size larger than that of the microcapsules is incorporated in the thermal recording layer. The pigment preferably has an oil absorption according to JIS-K-5101 of not less than 30ml/100g, and the amount thereof is 0.3-1pts.wt. per 1pts.wt. of the microcapsules. |
