PURPOSE:To improve cell characteristic by forming the reaction layer of gas diffusion electrode with a part having a high water repellency and gas diffusion characteristic in accordance with a content of fluorine resin and a part which allows easy penetration of electrolyte disposed uniformly. CONSTITUTION:A water repellent layer 3 formed by coating of the carbon fine powder in the alcohol with addition of fluorine resin powder on a porous electrode base 2, and moreover this layer is coated, equally in the thickness direction, with the carbon catalyst powder holding platinum, etc. to the alcohol, a part 5 having high water repellency and gas diffusion characteristic with addition of a large amount of fluorine resin and bore forming agent and a part 4 which allows easy penetration of electrolyte with addition of carbon catalyst powder holding platinum to the alcohol and a small amount of fluorine resin. In addition, a gas diffusion electrode 1 for fuel cell is formed as a reaction layer 6. Accordingly, many three-phase interfaces can be formed to the reaction layer 6 and thereby cell characteristic and operation life characteristic can also be improved. |
