PURPOSE:To improve the secrecy performance and the falsification preventing performance with an ID card by recording an information pattern of graphics, characters, etc. made of a transparent resin layer on a card substrate and detecting and reproducing said pattern by optical processes including the reflection, refraction, diffraction, interference, etc. CONSTITUTION:A plastic ID card 6 having the surface processed into a mat shape is drawn out by a draw-out roll 7 and conveyed between a thermal head 3 and a platen roll 4 so that the mat surface overlaps the transparent ink of an inkribbon 1. When the card 6 and the ribbon 1 pass through the head 3, a heating element for reading of the head 3 generates heat selectively by a record signal. This heat is transmitted to the transparent ink via a base film of the ribbon 1. Thus the ink is softened and melted to stick to the mat surface of the card 6. Then the ink is transfered to the card 6 to form a transparent information pattern of characters of graphics on the card 6. A record image on a card 6' is irradiated by a lamp 9 and detected by a photoelectric transducer 20. |
