A package for liquids made of paper, cardboard, or the like material having an impervious plastics coating has a closure formed by two strips (5, 5') of the material sealed together along a seam (12), and provided with outwardly extending superimposed tear strips (10) which are pulled apart to separate the strips (5, 5') to form a pouring spout 7. The tear strips may be joined to the strips (5, 5') along seams (11) which coincide with the seam (12) or lie between seam (12) and the outer edges of the strips.
