PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of water drops to metallic belts, etc. by heating preliminarily refractories by high-temp. combustion gas using ordinary H2-contg. fuel then heating the refractories by the high-temp. combustion gas obtd. by using fuel contg. no H2. CONSTITUTION:A continuous casting machine for a thin walled billet consists of a combination of a pair of metallic belts which move cyclically in order to support the long side surfaces of the billet and a pair of stationary side plates 11, 12 having a convergent shape to support the short surfaces. The refractories 10 stuck to the inside surface of side plates 11, 12 of such continuous casting machine are heated by the high-temp. combustion gas obtd. by using fuel contg. no H2 after said refractories are preheated by th high-temp. combustion gas obtd. by using ordinary H2-contg. fuel or directly without subjecting the refractories to such heating stage in the stage of preheating the refractories at the start of casting. The sticking of water drops to the metallic belts, etc. is thus prevented and the danger of steam explosion during casting is averted. |
