<p>A mixture of sodal lime and activated carbon is used to eliminate CO and CO2 from vehicle exhaust fumes and chimney smoke. For vehicle exhausts, the mixture is made up in perforated cylindrical cartridges to fit between baffles in adapted silencer bodies. In the case of chimneys, screen elements are formed by placing the mixture between perforated plates; the element is then located in the chimney duct. Advantages include inexpensive application to existing sysetms; ease of handling and interchangeability.</p> |
