Use of a heat-conductive inert binder to increase the power of a chemical heat pump. An expanded graphite called Graphex CK23 has been found to be a very good catalyst which is inert towards reactants and an excellent heat conductor. The most homogeneous possible mixtures with the initial solid reactant have been produced and a large increase in the power, of the order of 15 times and in individual cases of the order of 30 to 50 times, has been observed. The part played by the expanded graphite (Graphex CK23) is twofold: action on the transfer of matter (owing to the very nature of Graphex CK23 in leaflet form) in a reaction bed.
