The method and the device according to the invention relate to the cold rolling of tubes using a pilgrim step rolling mill (pilger mill). The method consists in improving the cooling of the rolling surface 20 of the mandrel 19 by introducing a highly pressurised fluid into the annular space between the mandrel and the tube 21 during rolling. Passage means 23, 31 make it possible to ensure the arrival and the departure of the fluid through the mandrel and sealing means 26, 29 make it possible to control the course of the fluid. The method applies in particular to the rolling of tubes with large cross-sections, for example made from steel, with high reduction rates. <IMAGE>
