A process of making anhydrous calcium sulfate form II from synthetic gypsum by heating to a temperature of 325 DEG - 450 DEG C. in the presence of steam as catalyst for a period of time necessary to convert the gypsum into the anhydrous calcium sulfate II; the product may be ground and K2SO4 and/or sodium fluosilicate added.
