Apparatus for producing an essentially horizontal bore in the earth, consisting of a pipe which can be rotated by means of a drive shaft and has a drilling device firmly attached at the end, the pipe being open in the area of the drilling device and the drive shaft having a transport device, in which arrangement the rotatable pipe (1) together with the drilling device (2) can be replaced by an earth auger (6) larger in diameter and the earth auger can be slipped onto the drive shaft (3), the earth auger (6) having tools (14) which transport the cleared earth in the feed direction of the earth auger to the transport device. <IMAGE>
