<p>Apparatus for automatically issuing bank passbooks (48) includes passbook storage bins (46) adapted to store a plurality of passbooks (48) of different types of a closed condition. A closed passbook (48) is fed to a guide chute (68) where pertinent information is printed and magnetically recorded on the cover of the passbook (48). The passbook (48) is then fed to a turning mechanism (99) which turns over the cover of the passbook (48), whereafter further information is recorded on the interior of the cover. The open passbook (48) is fed back to the turning mechanism (99) which turns a page of the passbook, whereafter information, such as an amount of money deposited is printed on an interior page. The open passbook is then fed to a discharge device (116) or a temporary storage bin (118). Passbooks (48) are checked for validity by reading coded labels (144) provided on the interior pages, invalid passbooks (48) being fed to a collecting bin (122). The apparatus can also issue other bank documents (52) stored in document storage bins (50).</p> |
