An exhaust air plant (1) serves for purifying exhaust air containing pollutants such as acid vapours, which exhaust air, for example, is removed by suction from an acid tank (2) by a suction fan (3). A scrubbing tube (5) according to the invention is inserted into the exhaust air pipe (4) in an intermediate area, in which scrubbing tube is located a swirl guide (12) which imparts a rotary motion to exhaust air wetted with water in a wetting device (8) and in the course of this the bound pollutants are discharged under the action of centrifugal force into an outer region. In addition, in the lower region of the scrubbing tube (5), outlet means, in particular outlet ports (13), are provided for discharging the pollutants into a pollutant discharge (14).
