PURPOSE:To improve film strength and silver image density of an image receiving material having a matted support by drying a coating layer at a specified wet bulb surface temp. raised before the gelatin concn. of said layer reaches a specified value. CONSTITUTION:The roughened surface of a support is coated with a coating soln. for forming an image receiving layer contg. at least gelating and physical development nuclei, and dried to form an image receiving material. At that time, the wet bulb surface temp. of the coating layer is raised to >=23 deg.C at the latest before the gelatin concn. of said layer reaches about 30wt%. A preferable amt. of gelatin is >= about 2/3 of the total binder of the image receiving layer, and a preferable concn. of binder in the coating soln. is about 2-10wt%. Such a coating soln. is applied to the roughened surface of the support, gradually dried, and raised to a wet bulb surface temp. of >=23 deg.C at the latest before the coating layer raches about 30wt% gelatin concn. to finish its drying. As a result, the max. density of a silver image can be obtained. |
