PURPOSE:To enable mass production of interferon, by cultivating a mammalian cell in a cell culture solution containing ascorbic acid, its derivative, or a vanadium compound. CONSTITUTION:A mammalian cell capable of producing interferon is cultivated in a cell culture solution containing ascorbic acid, its derivative and/or vanadium compound. L-Ascorbic acid preferably as ascorbic acid used, a monovalent metal L-ascorbate is preferable as the ascorbaic acid derivative, and sodium L-ascorbate is especially preferable among the monovalent metal L-ascorbate. A content of it in the cell culture solution is 1-500mg/l. Vanadium sulfate, a monovalent metal orthovanadate, or monovalent metal metavanadate is preferable as the vanadium compound. |
