Silicophosphate laser glass having a composition comprising (in mol%): from 45 to 70 % of P2O5, from 8 to 30 % of SiO2, from 65 to 95 % of P2O5 + SiO2, from 4 to 20 % of Li2O + Na2O + K2O, from 0.01 to 12 % of Nd2O3, from 0 to 10 % of Al2O3, from 0 to 5 % of La2O3 + Y2O 3 + B2O3, from 0 to 10 % of R'O (in which R' is Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn or Pb) and from 0 to 1 % of Nb2O5 + CeO2. The silicophosphate laser glass can be used as a highly effective laser glass of high output with small size.
