New weighing process and unit for the accurate determination of the weight of a continuous flow of bulk material. The flow of bulk material is continuously fed to a weighing pipe (1). A shut-off slide (4) is cyclically opened and closed and the weight increase per time unit is detected when the shut-off slide (4) is closed; the average value is then calculated from a very large number of weighings effected in a similar way and the total amount of the flow of bulk material is deduced by means of computers (5). The weighing cycle is very short, rather shorter than ten seconds and is continuously repeated. This large number of measurements enables to achieve a high precision from a statistical point of view, approximately +/- 0.2 <o>/oo, and therefore of the same order as containers scales. |
