The invention relates to an apparatus for cutting up and drawing off a tape used to hold a bundle, having a cutting and gripping apparatus for the tape which can be brought up to the bundle. In practice, problems occur in such apparatus because the binding tape frequently becomes jammed on some part of the apparatus after severing, when it is being drawn off. The object of the invention is to design the apparatus in such a way that the binding tapes can be drawn off in a simple manner after severing. To this end, it is proposed that on the opposite side of the bundle 2, in relation to the cutting apparatus 1, a collecting cone 3 which extends transversely to the axis of the bundle be provided for the upper end of the severed tape 4 and that at least one holding down device 5 which can be swung in and which holds the tape 4 in the smallest cross-section of the collecting cone corresponding to the width of the tape, is provided. <IMAGE>
