Harmonisation between the axis of the homing head of a self-controlled missile and the optical axis of an aiming device before the launch is carried out with the aid of image correlation via an image generated by the aiming device and containing the target and an image generated by the homing head. The method according to the invention is provided for locking the homing head of a self-controlled missile onto the target before it is launched.
