This system consists of a stationary central data processing system and at least one mobile decentralised unit which is subordinate to the central data processing system and can be connected to it and detached from it again, which exhibits devices for inputting system-external data, for exchanging data with the central data processing system in the connection state, for storage, outputting and for visual representation of system-external input data or data transmitted from the central data processing system. In the connection state, the central data processing system accepts, in addition to the data stored in it, also the data stored in the decentralised unit up to the time of the connection establishment, processes all these system data if necessary and again stores the data possibly processed in the central system or in the decentralised unit. After that, any change data entered during the connection state into the central data processing system or into the decentralised unit produce corresponding data changes both in the central data processing system and in the decentralised unit. When the connection is released, the decentralised unit automatically combines the change data supplied to it with the data stored in it.
