PURPOSE:To aim at saving materials and as well enhancing the efficiency of working, by providing a detector device for the relative position between a workpiece and a cutter tool bed, on the latter to compensate a starting position of machining. CONSTITUTION:A column 8a which descends in response to an instruction from an NC device together with a cutter tool bed 9a down to one end face of a steel pipe P, is stopped when a detection device 10 descends. Then a reciprocating bed moves leftward together with the column 8a so that a contacts element 12 about against the end face of the steel pipe P, and therefore, rotates if a roller 13 continues to press the end face of the steel pipe P. Therefore, a heart cam 14 pushes up as well moves rightward a push rod 15 to close a microswitch 16, and therefore, a light emitting element emits light which is then coverted into an electrical signal that is delivered to the NC device, resulting that the reciprocating bed comes to a stop, thereby the relative position between the pipe P and a cutter C is instantly culculated. Then, after the column 8a ascends, the cutter tool bed 9a is rotated to select the cutter C and then is locked. Further, the column 8a further descends to chamber the pipe P and so forth. Accordingly, no projection cutting is necessary for determining a length. |
