<p>A plate filter press with centrally top-suspended fileter plates and guides to prevent swinging movements of the plates is also equipped with a spray device comprising a horizontal tube which is introduced from the bottom between two adjacent plates. The guides for preventing swinging movements are arranged at the top corners of the filter plates. Prep. each guide comprises a fully closed guide block surrounding the associated horizontal guide rod. Pref. alfo, each guide block comprises a U-shaped lower part with a closure bolted across the top of the arms. Used esp. for sewage sludge drying. In the conventional arrangement, in which the anti-swing guide bars are at the bottom corners of the plates, it is necessary to disconnect them from the plates in order to introduce the spray tubes for washing the plaes. With the guide bars at the top as indicated, this is no longer necessary and further more swinging movements are also prevented during the washing of the plates. It is found that even with small sized filter plates the location of the bars at the top corners is sufficient to stop them swinging. In addition the top guidance acts as a safety support should the centre support for the plate break.</p> |
