The sliding door locking mechanism has door lifting and lowering movement initiated by a handle and lock mechanism. This door is lifted and lowered by the rollers under the door lower edge. This mechanism is used preferably for wooden doors but it can also be used for aluminium or plastics doors. Only short handle movements are needed and seals are pressed against floor to prevent draughts. When the roller are lifted and when the locking members (9) are connected then the moving frame (1, 3) is moved downwards and forward. The locking on the contacting edge of the moving frame is carried out by latching its hook (9) on fixed frame (2) with the pin (16) on guide (10).
