PURPOSE:To reduce fuel consumption in deceleration of an engine while preventing fuel supply from lag of follow-up in the shift to acceleration by supplying a fuel amount smaller than that corresponding to intake air amount in the deceleration of the engine and setting further larger rate of fuel reduction when a brake pedal is pedalled. CONSTITUTION:In deceleration of an engine one's foot is separated from an accelerator pedal 10 and a throttle valve 2 has the idle opening to turn on an idle switch 5. When the rotational frequency N of the engine exceeds a first set value N1, fuel injection is completely stopped. When the rotational frequency N is less than the first set value N1 and larger than a second set value N2, a brake is operated and a clutch is connected. And when a transmission 12 is not operated in the neutral position, fuel injection is completely stopped. When the rotation of the engine is less than the first set value N1 and larger than the second set value N2 in the deceleration, fuel leaks and is attached to a intake pipe wall so that the lag of follow-up in fuel supply is eliminated. |
