<p>Ethylene is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst formed from a solid catalyst component and an organic aluminum compound of the formula: AlR43 wherein R4 is C1-6 alkyl. The solid catalyst component is prepared by reacting a reaction product of an aluminum halide and an organic silicon compound of the formula: R1nSi(OR2)4-n wherein R1 and R2 are independently phenyl or C1-8 alkyl and n is 0, 1, 2, or 3, with a Grignard compound of the formula: R3MgX wherein R3 is C1-8 alkyl and X is halogen; and subjecting the resulting carrier to a contact treatment with a titanium tetrahalide at least two times.</p> |
